Heather Hanegan is a board-certified women’s health nurse practitioner at The Ohio State University’s James Comprehensive Cancer Center and Solove Research Institute in Columbus, Ohio, including completion of an oncology fellowship with a focus on hematologic, breast, and gynecologic cancers. Her clinical practice is focused on treating women with gynecologic malignancies, including participating in the management of clinical trials. She has a particular interest in the prevention of disease and treatment of minority women with cancer, especially immigrant and refugee women. She volunteers for a local immigrant/refugee organization. She is coauthor of an article on perceptions of cervical cancer screening, screening behavior, and post-migration living difficulties among Bhutanese-Nepali refugee women in the United States. Ms. Hanegan has served as a member of the Ohio Collaborative to Prevent Infant Mortality, is a guest lecturer at The Ohio State University WHNP track, and precepts WHNP students interested in oncology.
