The World Health Organization (WHO) recently announced that the rate of coronavirus transmission outside of China may soon be increasing.

Tedros Ghebreyesus, the director-general of WHO, describes the potential with the following: “It’s slow now, but it may accelerate…So while it’s still slow there is a window of opportunity that we should use to the maximum in order to have a better outcome, and further decrease the progress and stop it.”

To illustrate this potential increase in cases, a patient from Singapore was recently diagnosed with the coronavirus, but the patient had not traveled to China and has no links to other patients with coronavirus in Singapore. There has also been an increase of patients confirmed with coronavirus in Germany and England.
